Whether statutory interest on damages should be reduced by reason of plaintiffs’ delay in prosecuting proceedings

The plaintiffs had obtained judgment for damages against the defendant. Issues arose as to the plaintiffs’ entitlement to interest, and these were put over to a separate hearing. At the adjourned hearing the defendant contended that the plaintiffs were guilty of unjustified delay in prosecuting the action, and that therefore they should not be entitled to statutory interest for the full period.
