Angad and others v. M/V Fareast Trader and others - U.S. District Ct. (Southern District of Texas) - 23 August 1989.

Crew purportedly being paid at I.T.F. rates in accordance with shipping articles but in fact being paid at lower prices in accordance with “shipboard employment contracts” - Crew required to sign two separate receipts - one showing higher rates and one showing lower rates - Whether crew entitled to summary judgment

The plaintiffs were 24 Filipino seamen and one Chinese seaman who were serving on board the vessel Fareast Trader , which was owned by a Panamanian company. The action was for past due unpaid wages, for double wage penalties pursuant to the United States Shipping Code 46 U.S.C. Section 10313 and for certain injunctive relief.
