Collision action - Currency of claim - Method of setting off amounts of claim and counterclaim where each party agrees to bear 50% liability

In 1974 a collision occurred off the coast of Portugal between the Italian motor vessel Transoceanica Francesca , owned by the plaintiffs, and the defendants’ motor ship Nicos V. Francesca had some temporary repairs carried out in Rotterdam. Nicos V was repaired in Amsterdam.
