Riverside Landmark Corporation v. Northumberland General Insurance - Supreme Ct. of Ontario (Anderson J.)
Marine insurance - Meaning of phrase “towed in tandem” in policy wording
This was an action by plaintiff owners against the insurers of their vessels
Marlhill
and
Lac Des Iles
, which were to be towed from Quebec City to Tampico, Mexico. Both vessels subsequently sank in bad weather in the Atlantic
Ocean whilst under tow. There was no dispute that the loss was caused or contributed to by heavy weather, which was an insured
peril.
