Priorities - Proceeds from sale of mortgaged vessel - Costs of discharging cargo

In April 1978 Jogoo was sold to Eastern Africa National Shipping Line Ltd. 10 per cent of the purchase price was paid in cash on delivery of the vessel. The remainder was payable over seven years and secured by a first and second mortgage on the vessel. In February 1980 she was arrested in Newport by HB who claimed that the owners were indebted to them in respect of goods supplied to the vessel for her maintenance and upkeep.
