Extra berthing dues incurred by stopping discharge - Damages

The owners claimed from the charterers in respect of extra berthage dues arising from extra delay to their vessel because of a dispute between the charterers and the consignees of cargo. Laytime at the discharge port expired on December 7, thereupon the vessel came on demurrage. Discharge of the vessel commenced on December 13. On January 3, the charterers ordered the master to cease discharging cargo because of a dispute between them and the receivers; the master obeyed this order. Discharge of cargo resumed on January 11 but was again stopped on January 16 and the charterers ordered the master to stop discharging, for the same reason as previously. Discharge of cargo was resumed on January 24, and completed on February 2.
