Tort - Carrier delivered containers upon production of forged bills of lading - Whether person presenting forged bills liable in deceit

The claimants wrongfully delivered six containers of frozen meat at Pointe-Noire in the Republic of Congo. They delivered the containers upon production of documents described as bills of lading. However, the claimants claimed that the documents were forged bills of lading and that they had been presented by the fourth defendant, Khalil Abdul Karim. They claimed damages against him in deceit.
