Time of ‘delivery’ for purpose of COGSA one year time limit - Package limitation - Burden of proving quantum of damage sustained

In 1992 Venezuelan buyers bought US$1,360,001 worth of pre-fabricated steel building materials from sellers in the United States. The buyers, through their Venezuelan customs broker (‘the shippers’), arranged for the materials to be shipped to Venezuela. The shippers contracted with the carrier to ship the goods from new Orleans to La Guaria, Venezuela in two shipments.
