The defendant, Captain John T Vatis, was involved for many years in Kronos Maritime Agency SA (“Kronos Maritime”) a company managing a fleet of vessels owned by one-ship companies. By September 1994 the business of Kronos Maritime had declined, and the last remaining vessel transferred to new managers.
