US barriers to nationwide operations frustrate firms

THE US system of insurance regulation is a matter of some frustration for overseas companies and even certain managers of risk within the country. By requiring that most writers of insurance must be registered and regulated in each and every state they want to do business in, the current system makes it time-consuming and expensive to establish a pan-US insurance operation.
