On the evening of 19 September 1992 the crude oil tanker
Nagasaki Spirit
collided with the container ship
Ocean Blessing
in the northern part of the Malacca Straits. About 12,000 tonnes of
Nagasaki Spirit
’s cargo were released into the sea and caught fire. Both ships caught fire. Only two members of
Nagasaki Spirit
survived. All the crew of
Ocean Blessing
lost their lives.
