Union could take UK to court

THE UK government could be taken to court in a test case over pension funds after steel workers lost their jobs last year. The Iron & Steel Trades Confederation (ISTC) is meeting its legal team to discuss whether it has a sufficiently strong case. But even if the union does not go ahead with its plans, individual members are set to take the case forward. The union represents workers at the Allied Steel & Wire plant in Cardiff, which was closed last summer workers not only lost their jobs but more than 800 of them lost the majority of their occupational pensions.
