German court throws out DVT suit

FRANKFURT - A Frankfurt court has dismissed a claim against Lufthansa that it failed to maintain the safety of a German passenger flying to South Africa, by neglecting to warn him of the dangers of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). This landmark ruling could set a precedent for courts in other jurisdictions dealing with cases of this sort and follows a period of growing concern over the potential liability of airlines and their insurers to passengers who develop DVT during flights.
