XL Brockbank rebrands to focus on two syndicates

LONDON - Bermuda's XL Capital has confirmed a realignment of its Lloyd's operation, XL Brockbank, which includes closing its third party backed syndicates 588 and 861 and rebranding it as XL London Market Ltd. The two XL Brockbank syndicates backed entirely by XL Capital capacity - 1209 and 990 - will continue to trade in 2002. Syndicate 1209 will focus on marine lines, specie, bloodstock, war and political risks, international aviation and selected non-marine lines, while syndicate 990 will continue its non-marine account with particular emphasis on long tail business. XL Brockbank will no longer write excess of loss treaty, accident and health and US Fortune 500 property business, although these lines will be offered elsewhere in the XL Capital group.
