Eight European insurers given Chinese licences

BEIJING - The World Trade Organisation's newest member, China, has given eight European life and property insurance companies permission to enter its market. The Chinese regulators told companies, including UK based Royal & Sun Alliance and Germany based Allianz, to begin preparing the necessary documents to qualify for licences that should be issued in six months time.
