Lack of cats boosts Chubb

Chubb Corp saw its net income more than double to $207.9m, or $1.17 per share, in the third quarter of 2000, up from $77.3m, or $0.44 per share, in the same period of 1999, writes Claire Wilkinson. Results were boosted by near total absence of catastrophe losses in the quarter and the sale of Chubb‘s 50% interest in Associated Aviation Underwriters, generating after-tax profit of $35.6m.
