Digital pilotage and the need for its appraisal: the case of Denmark
Digital pilotage is pilotage. Certain phases of pilotage service being digitalized, removed or shifted to a different stage of pilotage operation do not change the inherent nature of the service but rather enhances it. However, the adequacy of law to accommodate the digital pilotage operations remains uncertain, and its clarification becomes increasingly significant in light of some recent developments in Denmark, where the world's first remote pilotage test programme has been launched.

EU support schemes for the use of sustainable fuels in the maritime sector
This article introduces the revision of the Energy Taxation Directive (ETD) which aims to introduce higher taxation rates for fossil fuels and lower rates for renewables products. It examines the incentives and financial support schemes implemented by EU legislation to promote the use of energy from renewable sources in the maritime sector, as well as the sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions savings criteria required to benefit from such support schemes.
