Building Law Monthly

BOOK REVIEW

KEATING ON BUILDING CONTRACTS (7th edition, by Stephen Furst QC and Vivian Ramsay QC). Sweet & Maxwell, 2001, 1233pp + tables, appendices & index. £220.

The publication of a new edition of Keating on Building Contracts is an event that will be warmly welcomed by all lawyers involved in the construction industry. The book is now in the hands of new editors: Stephen Furst QC and Vivian Ramsay QC taking over the reins from Lord Justice May. They have succeeded in maintaining the high standards set by their predecessors. The structure of the book has survived the test of time and it has not been necessary for the editors to engage in wholesale restructuring of the book. Rather it has been a case of bringing the account of the rules of law up to date and this has required numerous changes of a detailed nature rather than substantial re-writing of the book.
