Kallas keeps up pressure over agriculture subsidy transparency

European Union (EU) anti-fraud Commissioner Siim Kallas has taken his argument for publishing all beneficiaries of EU agricultural subsidies to the farmers who have opposed his plans. He told EU agriculture federation COPA/COGECA: “Receiving EU subsidies is not a business secret. If you want to know farm subsidies, you can estimate the field size, count the cows or sheep…” He added that companies wanting secrecy should simply not apply for EU funds.
