Non-life market premium income double that of life market
The financial crisis of 2002 undid much of the profit accumulated in the boom years after the peso was fixed against the US$
Argentine insurers, who close their accounts in June, wrote 18,966.74mn pesos (US$6,118.3mn) in premiums at June 30, 2007.
Non-life insurers accounted for 68.1% of this total with 12,916.82mn pesos ($4,166.72mn) while life and personal lines (which
includes personal accident, health, retirement, annuities) wrote the remaining 31.9% with 6,049.92mn pesos ($1,951.60mn).
