Turkey: general cargo carrier Teklivka (4168 tonnes dwt) which sank with 161 containers was en route from Izmir to Port Said with a crew of 15. Twelve crew members were rescued and three remain missing. The vessel encountered bad weather in the East Mediterranean and a distress signal was sent reporting a substantial list in a position approximately 75 miles north of Port Said. The crew abandoned the vessel at about that time and vessels in the vicinity were requested to assist.
