US workplace injuries and illnesses down

The rate of workplace injuries and illnesses in private industry in the US declined in 2006 for the fourth consecutive year, the US Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has reported. Nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses reported by private industry employers declined from 4.6 cases per 100 workers in 2005 to 4.4 cases in 2006.
