Compensation over steeplejack deaths

The families of two steeplejacks who died onsite during a job have been awarded more than £300,000 each in compensation. The two men were killed in an explosion while fixing a chimney. Manslaughter charges against two employees of the company involved were dropped after the incident. Three employees went on to admit to breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act and were fined a total of £17,000.
