Multi-million pound settlement after fall
A painter and decorator who was left seriously injured after he fell through scaffolding has received a multi-million pound
settlement. He was left with brain damage after a plank split, causing him to fall 6 metres onto stone steps. His employer
admitted liability. He is now reliant on a wheelchair for mobility and needs round the clock care for the rest of his life.
His employer will pay 30% of the compensation and the scaffolding company will pay 70%. The settlement involves a £2.4mn lump
sum, as well as an index-linked annual payment of £105,000 for the rest of his life.
