£6.6mn damages for cerebral palsy
A teenage boy, who was left with brain damage resulting from negligence during his birth, has won £6.6mn in compensation.
The boy is now confined to a wheelchair and has cerebral palsy that means he will never be able to work and requires around-the-clock
help. The High Court ruled that the Health Authority was liable for damages after indicators that the baby might be deprived
of oxygen were not heeded by the hospital.
