House passes Lawsuit Abuse Reduction Act

The US House of Representatives has passed the Lawsuit Abuse Reduction Act of 2005 (LARA). The aim of the Act, according to the American Tort Reform Association (ATRA), is to deter the filing of frivolous lawsuits by placing the cost of defending frivolous claims on the lawyers who bring them.
