Settlement for ladder fall injury

A man has received £4,650 in an out-of-court settlement from his employer after falling from a ladder. The contract labourer broke a bone in his back and was not able to return to work for four months. The company involved accepted 85% liability for the incident. He fell as he stepped off a ladder and stood on a long steel girder, about 10 inches tall, that was pushed flush against the ladder and running along the rung.
