A woman has been awarded more than £1.2mn in compensation after she suffered salmonella poisoning after eating a meal at a
Chinese restaurant. The salmonella caused debilitating reactive arthritis, meaning that she was now in constant pain. The
judge awarded her £,1,243,082 in damages, including £627,730 for loss of earnings and pension rights up to her retirement
and £397,304 for care costs. The restaurant contested the amount claimed but admitted liability for causing the salmonella
