Damages paid to police harassment victim

A woman who was harassed by a retired policeman has been awarded £20,000 in damages. The policeman was investigating the alleged rape of the woman’s daughter. He denied the allegations. She claimed he had touched her sexually, made sexual remarks to her and stalked her. The High Court awarded the woman £10,000 for anxiety and injury suffered and £10,000 for aggravated damages.
