Settlement for death of breech baby

The parents of a baby who died at eight days old have received an apology and compensation from a hospital trust. The doctors did not realise that the baby was breech until some hours after her labour had commenced. Once they realised the baby was breech, they allowed the labour to continue, rather than considering a caesarean section. By the time the baby was finally born, it had suffered brain damage due to lack of oxygen, and then suffered a heart attack.
