Personal Injury Compensation
Liability of public authorities
Sintes v London Borough of Tower Hamlets [2026] EWCA Civ 752
A recent Court of Appeal decision dealing with personal injuries concerned a tripping and slipping claim against a local authority
in which the significance of omissions was considered in the context of negligence and nuisance. The court decided that Tower
Hamlets, in exercising its statutory power as the market licensing authority, did not owe a duty of care to the claimant in
negligence or public nuisance for the tripping accident she had suffered in a street market.
