Personal Welfare Deputy appointments

Re HB (Appointment of Personal Welfare Deputy) [2026] EWCA Civ 960

There appear to have been no opportunities for the Court of Appeal to consider cases concerning the appointment of Personal Welfare Deputies (PWD) and to analyse the relevant statutory provisions. However one such case, concerning a 22-year-old man with a severe learning disability, was reported recently with the Court of Appeal issuing some helpful guidelines in its judgment.
