The claimant asserted that it was the owner of a subsea telecommunications cable, Sirius South, which ran from Lytham St Annes,
Lancashire, to Portmarnock, County Dublin. It was 218,693 km long, and contained 48 optical fibre strands used for the transmission
of data. Along with a second cable, Sirius South carried all of the claimant's internet data, television and telephone traffic
between the United Kingdom and Ireland.
