£6mn compensation for paralysed girl

A young girl has been awarded £6mn compensation for spinal injuries after being hit by a car. The five year old is paralysed from the neck down, and has to breathe through a ventilator. She requires a team of eight professional carers a day to look after her.The insurers of the driver, who denied any blame, are to pay £2mn as a lump sum plus annual index-linked payments of £150,000 for the rest of her life in a compromise settlement.
