Ship recycling, or ship breaking as it used to be termed, is not a glamorous subject. But it has the capacity to generate a surprising amount of passion and confusion. In the shipping industry's race to decarbonise, to embrace environmental and social governance and take advantage of new technology, ship recycling is not a subject which necessarily excites or engages.
