Spoofing grounding

A few days after running aground off Jeddah, the containership Liberia-flagged MSC Antonia is still stranded. Before running aground on 10 May, data from the vessel's AIS shows large jumps in location and even places the boxship just outside Al Ju'aydah, Saudi Arabia, which is some 80 km inland. A Lloyd's List Intelligence casualty report suggests this is evidence that MSC Antonia was the victim of GPS jamming, with analysis highlighting spoofing patterns that resulted in the grounding near Eliza Shoals west of Jeddah.
