The FSRU as a terminal

Authored by John Simpson

A Introduction

5.1 This chapter deals with legal issues when the FSRU is moored as a receiving vessel, operating as a discharge terminal, including the regulatory, insurance and liability environment in these circumstances, and describes the detail of agreements regulating the use of an FSRU as a terminal, usually called Conditions of Use (“COU”). As explained in Chapter 7 (“Offshore storage and loading”), such COUs are usually applied also to loading at offshore terminals. Thus, much of the legal detail contained in this chapter will apply also to use of an FLNG unit as a terminal.
