FLNG – intellectual property rights

A Introduction

8.1 Intellectual property (or “IP”) is increasingly important in all areas of offshore construction and floating production. The author has discussed the fundamentals of IP in these contexts in previous texts.1 This chapter builds on those fundamentals in the specific context of floating liquefied natural gas, a sector in which significant amounts of IP has been generated, in particular in the development of cryogenic technology used to facilitate the carriage of LNG.
