The legal basis of the Turkish legal system was laid in the Constitution of the Republic of Türkiye, usually referred to as the Constitution of 1982. The Constitution has been amended several times, the last in 2017. The 2017 amendment ended the parliamentary government system in Türkiye and adopted a presidential system.
