I An Outline of the Pre-2015 Act Law

The designation in English law of a contract of insurance as a contract of good faith was confirmed in the latter decades of the 18th century, and the derivative law developed by the common law was subsequently codified by the UK Marine Insurance Act 1906 (hereafter 1906 Act).2 Although the Act is expressly identified with marine insurance, its main principles apply to insurance contracts generally.3
