Secrecy on environmental performance
A report published in June 2001 by Salter Baxter and Environmental Context has found almost half of Britain’s largest companies
ignored government requests to disclose information on their environmental and social performance. If the companies fail to
cooperate, the government has indicated legislation is on the cards. The survey points out that reporting can be beneficial
to businesses through improved energy efficiency, safer working practices, better workforce morale and improved reputation.
