Financial promotion rules to cover Bitcoin and other unregulated cryptoasset ads

Advertisements andother promotions for Bitcoin, Ether as well as other utility and exchangetokens are to be brought under the FCA’s advertising rules. The Government willintroduce the change under secondary legislation “once parliamentary timeallows”. The move aims to bring unregulated cryptoassets within the scope ofthe Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. And the FCA is also reframing theexisting rules.
