Seafarers’ Rights International (SRI) held a conference at the IMO – “Future-proofing the Maritime Labour Convention” – as part of London International Shipping Week 2021, that attracted more than 120 people including representatives from more than 30 states. Attendees heard addresses from ministers, shipowners, seafarers, port state control, training colleges and cadets, each providing their unique perspective on the challenges faced in the last 18 months and the future of the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC).
