‘High time that the Lloyd’s litigation … came to an end’

Thus urged Mr Justice Cresswell, delivering his 600-page judgment in the high court in Jaffray v Lloyd’s . He strongly urged both sides to agree a genuinely independent panel to oversee remaining disputes, but neither side seem inclined for this. Lloyd’s is taking a ‘robust’ approach to collecting the debts of the 230 Names who rejected the R&R settlement of 1996; the Names talk of appeal, and use of the Human Rights Act to challenge Lloyd’s immunity from negligence claims.
