Bhagwan Marine Pte Ltd v The Ship “Teras Bandicoot” – Federal Ct (McKerracher J) [2020] FCA 1224 – 20 August 2020

Admiralty practice – Arrest of vessel – Vessel in dead-ship status and not crewed – Plaintiff applying for alternative service of writ and arrest warrant by email – Whether normal rules for service should be waived

The plaintiff issued a writ in rem against the vessel Teras Bandicoot claiming unpaid mooring fees for the use of the cyclone mooring at Hudson Creek in Darwin. The ship had been moored in Darwin since February 2018 without crew or any other apparent attention.
