£42,000 award over £40 photo-copying bill

A town clerk who was sacked over a bill of £40 for photocopying has been awarded £42,000 in an out-of-court settlement. An employment tribunal ruled that she was unfairly dismissed and that her dismissal was politically motivated. She was awarded £12,500 in compensation, plus her legal costs, estimated to be around £30,000.
