Westpac sets aside Au$900m to cover fine for AML breaches

Westpac Banking Corporation has provided Au$900 million [1] against the fine it expects over alleged “systemic failures” in its anti-money laundering controls, including around customer due diligence and monitoring, which may have allowed transfers by paedophiles to the Philippines and South East Asia.
