Trusts and Estates
Brexit - A brave new world
The result of the EU Referendum, in which voters decided that the UK should leave the European Union, is clearly the start
of a process which will continue for some time. It may enable English trust law to develop in ways which would increasingly
have been restricted by European Court decisions, reflecting continental jurisprudence which regarded trusts as an alien and
unwelcome intrusion. It may also enable UK Treasury ministers and tax gatherers to propose legislation without fear of being
restrained by the directives from Brussels.
