UK moves closer to retail ban on cryptocurrency derivatives

The FCA is considering a retail ban on the sale of derivatives tied to bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The move is part of a regulatory strategy co-ordinated with the Bank of England and HM Treasury — and aimed at making the United Kingdom’s regime “one of the most comprehensive responses globally to the use of cryptoassets for illicit activities”.
