The decisions of Mr Justice Neuberger and the Court of Appeal in Re Friends Provident Life Office [1999] Lloyd’s Rep IR 547 are of narrow ambit in that they relate to a specific group structure involving reinsurance adopted by one life office. However, they do throw some light on the application of the Insurance Companies Act 1982 to reinsurance agreements.
